Heidi Patterson Chase
Written by Laura Douglass

Heidi Patterson Chase, 38, of Seven Lakes North, passed away Wednesday, February 10, after a courageous battle with cancer. A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, February 13, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Pinehurst, with the Rev. James M. Labosky officiating. A Rite of Committal followed in Seven Lakes Cemetery.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Jerri Patterson and the recently deceased Patrick. She relocated with her parents to Seven Lakes and attended West End Elementary, Union Pines High School, and Sandhills Community College. After obtaining her degree in early childhood development, she operated a successful after-school program in West End.

Heidi was the loving wife of Anthony Chase, who preceded her in death. They lived in Fayetteville where she became active in the Foster Care Program in Cumberland County. As a result, she adopted two wonderful children, Mary and Faith Chase. She closed her after-school program and devoted her time to their care as well as that of many other foster children.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary and Faith Chase; her mother, Jerri Patterson; a sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and Wylie Weldy, of San Diego, Calif.; aunt and uncle, Terri and James Mastraieni; uncles, Phillip and Kenneth Patterson; aunt, Margaret Patterson; and many cousins.
She is also survived by many special friends that she met along the way, Matthew Elkins, Janet Fitzgerald and Kathy Milewski, and too many others to list. Their presence in her life was a source of great comfort and strength. Although this battle with cancer is not what she would have chosen, her life was made richer by her many supporters from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, FirstHealth Hospice, and FirstHealth Cancer Care Network.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services P.O.
