Burke Garvin Williams

Burke Garvin Williams, 85, of Eagle Springs, died Wednesday, January 27, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 2, at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tal Madison and the Rev. Joe Forbes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins, and other times at the home.

    Mr. Williams was a native of Orange County and was a 1941 graduate of Elise High School. He was a member of the Robbins VFW and an Army veteran of World War II, where he received the American Theater Service Medal, Eame Service Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a trustee at Smyrna United Methodist Church a member of the administrative board. Mr. Williams was formerly employed at Futrell Brothers Lumber Company and also Mansion Homes.

    He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Beulah Garner Williams, of the home; son, Christopher G. Williams and his wife, Sharon, of Iron Station; daughter, Anna Williams Garner and her husband, Don, of Robbins; brother, Ralph Williams, of Greensboro; sisters, Robbie Barrett, of Cary, and Ethel Smoak, of Greensboro; and five grandchildren, Adam Garner and his wife, Monica, Laura Garner, Christy Love and her husband, Tim, Shillie Williams, and Hilary Williams.
