Jack Lee Myrick, Sr.

Jack Lee Myrick, Sr., 81 of West End, passed Sunday January 17, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 20, at Faith Baptist Church in West End with the Rev. Tony Connor and Rev. Ralph Lee Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery in Robbins. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 19, at Faith Baptist Church.

    Mr. Myrick was born in Guilford County, N.C., to the late Corbett Myrick and Eliza Williams Myrick. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a great lover of the outdoors and the Atlanta Braves. His special love of quail hunting led to his opening, in 1962, of Pinelake Shooting Preserve. There he professionally trained bird dogs and retrievers for sportsmen from all over the country. He was co-founder of the U.S. Complete Shooting Dog Association.

    Mr. Myrick was a devoted husband, father, and friend to all.  He was very strong in his faith to God and remained humble to the end, never complaining throughout the years about his illness. 

    He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Myrick and two sisters, Jewel Boone and Joyce Allred.

    He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Ruby Clayton Myrick of West End; four sons, Jack Lee Myrick, Jr. and his wife, Cyndi, of Kentucky, Zeb Corbett Myrick of West End, John Clayton Myrick and wife his wife, Becky, of West End, David Leon Myrick and his wife, Brooke, of Robbins; three brothers, Clarence and Vernon Myrick both of Robbins and Bobby Myrick of Star; seven grandchildren, Daniel Corbett Myrick, Jacob Causey Myrick, Avery Lea Myrick, Hailie Elizabeth Myrick, Lisa Jane Myrick, Austin Clay Myrick, and Luke Garrett Myrick.

    Memorial donations can be made in memory of Jack Myrick to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 190, West End, NC 27376.

    Boles Funeral Home of Seven Lakes is assisting the family.
